I just got done watching it right now. I'll have to throw the normal DVD in to get a comparison. I didn't immediately notice a huge difference in quality. Things did appear sharper but not a significant order of magnitude better image.
The BluRay did not include English Sub or Dub ... Japanese Subs were available though The BluRay included trailers and the song, One More Time, One more Chance - with some different visuals than in the movie.
Every time I watch these movies I pick up something new
I finally noticed, when Takaki is writing his letter ... right about the paper he is writing on, there is what looks like a note card with the word "confession" and a description (professing ones love). Also, on Akari's socks in the train station there is a heart with wings ... kinda cute.
Another moment I noticed was at their first kiss, how Akari's hands seem to go loose while Takaki's seem to clench.
Anyway ... I've got two new items for the Ranks .. I have to stay ahead of Menasha and Junpei Since I look for random things, it might be fun if I post the random elements in a thread to se if you all can guess where I got them.

Ok ... I take that back I just threw my DVD version in and watched a little and the BluRay is definitely sharper, and clearer. The DVD looks great, but the BluRay looks better.

I was able to watch it tonight and luckily there were a couple of new things I've managed picked up. It works better if you take off the subtitles and go through it in its original.
I noticed Takaki's number plate on his moped was 193 and Kanae's was 202.
When Takaki rides back to Kanae's home with her, Cubby runs out barking and she greets him while Takaki looks on with a desolated expression on his face. Perhaps thinking of Akari and his past affinity with her.
Right after that, Takaki leaves on his moped with Kanae waving him goodbye and Cubby wagging his tail. When she stops waving
Cubby stops wagging his tail as well, though only for a brief moment before resuming again.
There were other things as well but I thought against posting them. I mean, who wants to know such small details of unimportant discoveries like what someone is eating or wearing?
It'll be nice to see any of you others also discover new things to share with us.
Being that I just got a Blu-ray player for an early Christmas present, I'll have to look into picking the Blu-ray version of this movie up (as soon as I figure out and act on my career future, of course...).
I originally watched this movie via the R2 DVD anyways, without subtitles or English dub. I wouldn't mind watching the Hi-def version without english help...
I'm still alive; apologies for not posting as much as I should!
But, I've watched the Bluray rip many times [i've got the R2 dvd but I don't like watching it without understanding a lot, hahaha.], and the quality is awesome.
I actually just finished watching it again, after a couple of months without watching it. It was as powerful as it was when I first watched it. I maintain that this is my favourite and the beautiful film ever
And I know what you mean about noticing things. Every time I watch it I seem to notice many new unimportant things. _________________ "...Kanae fanboys represent!" - Zitch
