Tell us a little about where you want your life to go over the next few years. Some of you are in the earlier parts of your lives ... what's next for you? What do you want to be when you grow up ... so to speak ?

For us more seasoned (nice way of saying older) folks ... now that we're grown up (in age if not mentally) what's on tap for the next few years?

I'l start off ... I wish I had more time to devote to this site and to watch  anime and read manga and attend conventions Smile I'm going to start looking into ways to maybe switch my career to be involved in those industries to some degree. I definitely want to travel more ... I need to get some tickets to Italy soon (really soon) and I want to get to Japan next year. Life is short and the days are flying by ... enjoy the time you have and the friends you have around you. Make memories and have fun.

What are your plans for the near or far future?

Laz

Hey Laz.. sorry if it's a bit personal, but what job do you have now? Maybe you have a great shot at working in the anime industry if your job involves working with people and relations. Wink

As for me.. A few years ago I thought that by the time I reached 25 I would be married, have kids and a job as a teacher. But now that I see how awful marriage can be (all of my relatives' and my own parents' marriages have failed ) I think I'll stick single for a while. I hope I'll become a translator and work in a nice and peaceful office, but I doubt I'll have much luck stuck in such a small and unimportant city.

But I know I'll achieve 2 important things for sure: get enough money to buy a PS3 and XBOX in the near future because I'm missing on so many good games and adopt two cats ^_^

I do project management work for a technology company ... so I organize, schedule and make sure things get done on time and under budget (most of the time ) Smile

Well ... when you get the PS3 let me know and I'll add you to my friends list.

Hmm... unless you have artistic skills you could work for a anime or manga company and organize, schedule and make sure things get done on time and under budget there too Very Happy
But if things there are anything like in my country that means you first need to be friends with the higher-ups that work there or something...

Hmm... Honestly, I don't think about the future very much. Maybe I should. o_o

First, I want to finish highschool. Second, I want to attend a college. Afterwards, I want to have some sort of steady career, maybe something do with English literature. I also plan on dying of old age at some point, but that's to the side. :p

I guess since most of the usual life accomplishments are behind me (except marriage, which is not a necessity for me right now), my one goal left might be the novel that I started writing several years ago. Other interests took over, so I put it on the shelf. Still, it's something I'd like to finish. I just need to tear myself away from anime and manga for about a year (ugh! that's gonna hurt. Crying or Very sad )

That and finish all those little projects around my house, like replacing old windows and repainting the exterior.

Hmmm future plans... Honestly I don't really have any haha! Sometime between now and next summer I should have my own online site for my portfolio/blog and a buisness card hah. I hope to be a game tester at Bioware next summer so I can meet some game developers.

Hmmm other then that... have good healthy realations with people. Work hard at college, depending on what it's like I may start a manga/anime club. -It's possible I wouldnt have time or engery to do so-

Oh, and perchase Gears of War 2 in November.

To be honest, I have though countless times about my future but I'll just give up which is why whenever someone asks about my plans, I have almost nothing to say.

How awesome is this that as we speak of our future plans, we simply take it for granted that we even have a tomorrow?

Hmm, I would say there's nothing wrong with planning for the future but just as long as we don't plan too far ahead. Maybe just the things that are essential otherwise it simply ruins the point of living life.

I would want to enjoy my moments, happiness, sadness, anger, pain, every single moment life has to offer and live to the end with no regrets. That's important, live no regrets. When your time is almost over in this world and you have not done something you really wanted to, or wished you had not done something you did, regret seems to take away all of the wonderful times you had. Because of one little thing in that final moment of your life, it turns around and engulfs everything. So that small thing you had always wanted to do but never really had to courage or determination to do, remember, consequence of long term is more important than consequence of short term.

I think I was speaking to myself haha...

Janny, marriage isn't something to be worried about over others' relations or opinions. If there is any intention in your heart of wanting to do it, seek it out, confront it, ask it. Eventually, you'll find what you would really want to do.

Was wierd was reading what you said and what popped into my mind was. "Wow in 50 years, it doesnt matter what I do, my life will still seem life 5 minutes" I mean I think back to my self 6 years ago and it seems almost like an instant now.

It just like theres, yesterday, last week, then everything starts to blur toegther..

I think the point of having future plans is more about hope than about knowing. Of course, no one knows the future; and even if they did, then what would be left to hope for?

If tomorrow a tornado whipped up and smashed my house to pieces (very likely in this area, mind you), then my plans for fixing up my house would be smashed as well. Big deal! It's just a house. I can sleep in my truck if I have to (it's not like I haven't done it before). I don't lose hope, because I firmly believe that for every negative there is a positive. Losing this old tinder box might be the best thing that ever happened.

But still, I have hope of fixing up this place anyway, because that tornado might never happen, and there's no point in worrying about bad stuff that might never happen.
