We (Shinkai sensei fans in Syria) were honored to have Mr. Shinkai between us on the 9th od February, we made a humble celebration during the animation workshop Mr. Shinkai was supervising in Syria, in the Japanese embassy. Mr. Shinkia was surprised, he said he forgot about his birthday!!
We lit the candles and took a picture with Mr. Shinkai!!

Then ofcourse, blowing the candles!!

Then he made a wish and cut the cake with the sharp side up ^__^ as we do here..

We gave him our humble present, a hand-made backgammon+chess wooden box with embedded sea-shells and mosaic, a traditional souvenire from Syria, we gave also Mr. Sunami a humble gift, a mosaic box with hand-decorated piece of Damascene cloth, also a traditional souvenire from Syria, we hope Mr. Shinkai and Sunami liked them..

We all wish Mr. Shinkai be in good health and live happily ever after!!

Wow, I'm sure Shinkai-san was happy that you guys put together a party and celebrated his birthday with him.

So, yesterday (Feb 9),was Mr Shinkai birthday (36 years). Happy birthday!! Very Happy
