I saw this the other day on Danny Choo ...
http://www.dannychoo.com/detail/m...g/image/6620/Emotional+Anime.html
A question about emotional anime and a question about what other anime/manga has had an emotional impact on you.
Sounds like a good question for this Forum too.
What other anime/manga, books, movies, art, has had an emotional impact on you ?

| Air, both the TV series and movie. At first, I thought the final beach scene at the end of the movie was too much, but then I watched the beach scene in the TV series, where Misuzu's father was carrying her away and she fell from his arms and began running back toward Haruko, at first you just saw her mouth moving as if she was crying something, then finally you heard her scream "Mommy!" (I'm watching the dubbed version, of course). That definitely did it for me. |

If you are watching Macross Frontier, the most recent episode is still bumming me out.
***SPOILER *****
One of my favorite characters who was involved in my favorite relationship in the anime, appears to have died. Of course, he lives long enough to express his feelings for the girl who'd been carrying a torch for him the whole time. Very very sad

Quite a big list for me, mostly of myself getting eyes misty and wet, almost teary with emotion. Mind you, most of them also were seen in the past so I may have different views now, but most likely not.
ANIME
- Clannad, TV series and movie.
- Air, TV series and movie. (Completely there with gleowine; that beach scene was powerful)
- Sola
- Shingetsutan Tsukihime (Looking back, this seems strange to have made me emotional but I remember it to be a good anime)
- Green Green (A great anime, with soft sexual themes but a sad ending)
- Cowboy Bebop
- Chobits
- True Tears
- Gunslinger Girl (season 1 and 2)
- Ichigo 100%
- Byousoku 5 Centimeter
- Hoshi no Koe
- Kumo no Mukou, Yakusoku no Basho
- Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo
- Pale Cocoon
TV DRAMA
- Taiyou no Uta (TV series and movie)
- 1 Litre of Tears (absolute favorite drama ever - and the better thing is, it was all based on the true story)
And also some books by Raymond E. Feist which I have being reading ever since the beginning of the year, such as his Midkemia series. Very intriguing. |

There are tons of animé that has a huge emotional impact on me so I'll try to narrow it down to a tolerable number.
Animé:
Metropolis (Osamu Tezuka)
Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo
Saishuu Heiki Kanojo
Futatsu no Spica
Wolf's Rain
Honey and Clover
Manga:
Hoshi no Koe
Hourou Musuko
Nodame Cantabile
Bokura No/Bokurano
As for the dorama, I completely agree with Junpei-san on "Taiyou no Uta".

Yes, someone else who has seen Taiyou no Uta.
I can't believe I left out manga, which is Ichigo 100%. |

I couldn't get over it for weeks. It was so sad yet strangely uplifting. _________________ "The most incomprehensible thing about the universe is that it is comprehensible." --Einstein |

I'm in danger of becoming the guy who likes everything he sees
I mentioned this in the anime discussion but I saw the Beck anime this week and it really pumped me up. I'm a sucker for those "outsider works hard and makes his dream come true" type of stories.

I'm gonna go ahead and say Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou had the biggest emotional impact on me out of anything i've read/watch/etc. With 5CM comming a close second.
I got so attatched to the characters in YKK. I found myself wishing to live in the slow, peaceful and calm life they enjoyed. When i finished i was really sad for a few days afterwards. Everything i did i thought about it.
5CM wise, it was everything that got me sad. The art, music and the story. It just all hit me at the end when 'One More Time..." kicked in.
