Hi folks ... the one year anniversary of the Forum is coming up in the next 2 weeks. I'll have more to say on that day ... but wanted to ask ... what was the moment or urge that led you to seek out other Shinkai fans on the Internets ?
For me ... it was that I really didn't have anyone to talk with about the movies I saw, as his works were not that well known at the time. 5 CM per second definitely was the first film I saw and it had a huge impact ... but it was almost 6 months or so since I first saw that until I decided to throw this forum out there to see if anyone else felt the same

I immediately felt saddened by seeing such beautiful films and not being able to talk to anyone about it as you mentioned, it was not very popular at the time.
At some point I realized that I was the only person I knew that liked Makoto Shinkai's works, so I thought it would be interesting to look up some of his other fans. _________________ "This land is all too shallow

It must've been after I saw 5 Centimeters Per Second and I wanted to talk about it to absolutely everyone. I'm glad I found this forum full of Shinkai lovers! Good to know the mans getting the respect he deserves! _________________ "...Kanae fanboys represent!" - Zitch
After watching 5cm I was downright sad that I couldn't talk to anyone about the movie. I wrote a review about it to make myself feel better but when that failed I looked up Shinkai-san on wiki and, well.. here I am.
I'm still pretty surprised that there are more guys than girls that enjoy Shinkai's works.. Anyway, I'm super psyched that I found this place ^_^ _________________ Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most.
What a consensus! You could call it "Close Encounters of the 5-cm Kind."
I initially found Daike's fan page and kept watching it for news updates. Not too much was happening there, and I was starting to lose hope, when I saw the link to this site and "click" I found you folks talking up a storm.
