I just got finished watching this series tonight. Tenmon's music is great, as always. Reminded me somewhat of Shinkai's style of telling stories ... but not quite.
I won't spoil anything ... the story had some twists and turns and a good share of sadness and sweetness.
Has anyone else seen this series ?

I've seen it, and though I liked it and thought it had some elements and ideas, it really didn't seem to have much lasting impact on me.
I would recommend it if you really wanted a drama series that was sad and sweet. |

Just got done watching the end of ef - a tale of melodies ... sad but good I definitely need to go back and watch a Tale of memories again to see how all the characters intertwine themselves in the story. I admit I was lost for a while, but then it all clicked. Nice way to end on Christmas day in the anime.

haha, i thought some one would have made a thread about this here lol. i finished memories and am almost finished melodies (CURSE YOU SHAPED INTERNET!!)
(slight spoiler that wont make sense untill you watch it below)
anyways, i really like a tale of melodies. i found is similar to a 4 hour long shinkai movie, but with a few differences.... like all the really trippy bits EG the 99 missed calls. i liked the semi complexity of it and most of the characters.
(end spoilers)
i found the dual story line a bit annoying though, i feel to would have been better if they had 1 episode for one couple, then the next was for the other. i just found it hard to follow what was going on at times. it also took quite some time to actualy get good, i didnt like the first 3 episodes that much.
i dont know if i like melodies as much as memories, its quite a bit darker and im not sure if thats a good or a bad ting. that being said i will wait until i finish it to pass judgment. it is however still extremely good. its deeper (more complex) that memories, again a good thing because i felt that some of the problems faced im memories where not as bad as they were made out to be. Yuuko's conflict on the other hand IS worth attention...
chances are if you love shinkai movies you will like these shows. they seem to me like a very long and far more complicated shinkai movie with worse animation. and if you are like me the more tenmon you can get your hands on the better
also here is a trailer animated by our favorite director

and hi everyone *waves at laz*, im back after finally finding this website again. my comp died (finally) and i lost all my bookmarks. |
