I think if we did a close up every other scene if would get repeatative and boreing junpei haha! I just said there becaus I felt there was something there when he start running after the girl, but you need to be looking for it. Which you shouldnt have to be.

hi all
Thanks for all the comments, yes i know the whole movie wasn't perfect or anything but it was ok as i learned a lot while filming the movie.
First off, i made this movie for my school film festival which will be held on May 16, so i'll be attending to see if i win anything.
I wanted to portray a sense friendship slowly fade away as time passes. This was my first film with dialog, so there were some parts I had trouble coming up with conveying the story. (telephone scenes)
I had wanted to do a film using the music from Voices for a long time now, this film went through some major changes. At one point, i wanted to do this as an animated film, however because my animation skills were horrible, I decided to do it live.
When I started filming this, there were a lot of tech difficulties i hadn't realize I would encounter. There were times where i wanted to do one effect but I Movie wouldn't allow so i had to switch to another effect. Also, I shot this in HD in 16:9 format. I saved the film to an external Hard drive so the school's computer had trouble reading it sometimes, leading to some frustrating times. I had finally managed to convert my film to quicktime before my hard drive failed completely so the original is gone.
One thing which I'm proud of however, are the scenery. I listened to weather reports just to find out which days had sun because we were in the raining seasons. I think the drive to make this film look pretty got better of the story so I'll need to keep that in mind on my next film.
Sorry Junpei, I think i'll have to agree with Menasha. In my last film, i had lot of close ups. Some of my classmates commented that it was annoying so for this film, i wanted to get away from close ups as much as possible.
Right now the film is in DV quicktime format. It really unfortunate as it looked really pretty in HD. Hopefully one day i'll get it out of my drive and release it in full HD.
So thanks Menasha, for your critical comments. Junpei for trying to be helpful and Laz, I'm glad you enjoyed it.

P.S, I live in a tropical climate, so it's either rain, shine or cloudy. No fall or snow... |

I see, it is definently difficult to show time going by with scenery then. In shinkai's film we see seasons change all the time. It's night, it's daytime, it's sunrise, it's sunset, beautiful.
In your next film, I think there's a few more things you could use close ups for not like extreme close up not exactly sure what the shots called but basically the characters face and down a little there chest and you can still see some background.
I feel you could take advantage of panning shots a little more for scenes where the camera shot does not change all to much.
I assume your other videos are on youtube so I will look at those later. I'm interested in seeing your improvement. Thank you for shareing! _________________ You know your old when, you reapeat things... you repeat things... you repeat things. |

No no, I didn't mean having close ups in a lot of scenes, just enough to show his emotions when needed. Looks like I can't say things properly... haha
Anyway, thanks for showing us this. I also had a look at your other videos on your Youtube account. The one named "boy" was pretty good... Good at making me laugh. I'm not being offensive but I am serious haha. He cut himself and died at the end? |

My only suggestion would be that you need some cooler looking shoes
Did you start off with any kind of story board or did you just have the scenes in your head and go out and film ?
I'll have to check your other films.
Needs more mecha

Do you mean the movie doesn't look like it's story boarded?
Yes, I did do a story board, and a script, it's only the ending which i didn't do a story board.
What i really felt was this movie could have bee much better... |

Hi Chowb321,
I was just curious if you had done the story board and had planned out all the scenes. It looked pretty decent to me.
