Not knowing exactly the plot to this one ... if it's going where I think it's going ... then I think it will be cool. I was expecting that as the girl is drawing the picture the colors would appear on the items in real life or in her eyes. Is that where it's going?
Would be cool if as she turns around to look at what's behind her .... you see that everything else is already roto-scoped ... kinda like that she's already colored the rest of the world the way she likes to see things.
Anyway ... looking forward to the finished clip.
Keep up the good work!
Laz

Yeah I agree that everything should be coloured when she turns, which it seems is your intention for the final copy. Has the girl had any drama training? Maybe you should look into finding some young and hopeful actors to help you out with your projects, I'm sure there'd be some really keen ones out there.
This film does make me wish I knew the first thing about animation. That roto technique looks fantastic. |

As i said before, that was just a test, not a full length movie
I didn't want to use the same girl again at first as i wanted to use a different person. However, that person ditched last minute and i have to find a last minute replacement. No she didn't had drama or acting lessons, but neither have I...I guess it shows huh.
I did color 31 out of the 178 frames for the last scene, however it looked really ugly and when played, it looked really jerky and weird. Plus, the deadline was coming fast so i had to make do.
This was really my third animation attempt. Cat was my first one, drawing frame by frame and capturing it as a jpeg. I know NOTHING on flash and Green Screen so i had to use my knowledge on animation as best i could. I did however learn some basic Maya.
I won't finish this film as it is a test. However, for my next big film, I'm pulling all stops. i'm thinking of making a film combining live with roto and 3D animation. This will not be a drama film as i'm starting to get sick of it. I am reading books on how to direct actors so i can direct them better for this film. We'll see how it goes but I hope i'll finish this film before june 2009, before i move to the U.S.
As for my stories, well, i know they suck. So I'll be brushing on my storytelling skills. hey, Junpei, mind if you give me a tip on how to write stories?
Also, hi Nick, ya new? |

The only way to get better is to keep creating.
Keep up the good work.

Chowb321, I don't think I would be the one to ask for tips. I merely write for leisure and almost everything I know is self taught as I have no real knowledge for how to write stories properly. Actually, good stories come from good imagination and experience. Sum up your ideas for your film and decide what type of shots and scenes you will be using first, then think of a story that can use all of those scenes and blend them in.
I don't know what other people do them for but I write my stories for myself if no one wants to read them. It somehow gives me a good feeling that only I can feel. So if you think of something that seems good to you, use it. |

Writing the script for my next film now, about 1/8 done but i have the beginning middle and ending. its an action film probly be around 30-40 min, depends on the film.
if you guys checked my youtube page, you will know there is a ninja trailer. Me and my friend had this idea to do a ninja flick for a long time now but for various reasons, we can't find acters or actresses willing enough to act so we decided to do this one animated. Now we have people who are willing to commit to this film so it's starting to go underway. Real production will begin around september so watch out for development pics.
This is my last year to submit a film into the film festival. Next year i'll be moving to the U.S so i plan to finish this film before i move.
in the meantime here's a few concept pics:
ps, my internet is crappy so i may not be on that much, but i will keep you updated on the movie whenever i can get on.
any questions pls submit into this forum and i'll try to respond as soon as i can

Animator's are actors as well, they just use a pencial and computer heheh. I wish you luck! What programs do you plan to animate with? Adobe Flash is a nice and light animation tool. _________________ You know your old when, you reapeat things... you repeat things... you repeat things. |
