Ok ... aside from the great stories and moving music what really sucked you in was the AMAZING visuals in these works.
What are some of your favorite scenes/images?
I'll start off with one of my favs ... the senset scene as Mikako and Noboru ride on their bike, after Mikako tellls Noboru that she's going on the Lysithea.
If I could just live in a world of Shinkai backgrounds .... I'd be really happy

| In 5cm, there's a scene I found truly magic, at about 47min of the movie, we see Takaki and Akari in the middle of the screen and sort of a planet (or the moon...) above them! I'll try to upload the screenshot! |

Do you mean this? I love this picture because this scene is most effectively beautiful.

I have ADSL so no problems for me.
As expected of Shinkai. The art and effects of his works are just pure magnificent! Beautiful! |

You gave me a poser. As a matter of fact, i love every scenes in the works of the sensei. Becaouse of the way of drawing and coloring. The visulas are emotiv, i mean the aspect reflects emotions. He is just a genius, who can enchant with the unique artwork full of emotional things. When i first saw a screenshot of a Shinkai film, that touched my heart, fascinated me.
I will try to sort images from each work, those are among my most favorites.
Scences, that’s a very different topic. Course of events. On first thought: my all-time favorite scence is when Sayuri and Hiroki get in touch with each other again at the hospital.
And i absolutely agree with you, Laz, i think the same, living in a world like Shinkai Makoto created, that would be a way better, than living in this one. |

Makoto Shinkai doesn't create any world. He shows our own world through a different perspective.
It's all here yet most people can't find it. I suppose you need to be more insightful. I'm pretty lucky to have seen this and I'm sure you guys have as well. |

Junpei, I like that perspective. There are moments of utter beauty in or own world ... perhaps we just don't pay attention to them.
I still wish Shinkai would come out with a DVD of various landscapes with clouds slowly gliding by ... I'd just watch that on my TV all the time.
the_emh - Yup, that's the pic I was thinking of. The color of the sky, the clouds, the sunset, the detail. Excellent.

Alright guys, I'm sure you already know that a lot of the locations used in 5 Centimeters Per Second are based on real life places. I'll try my best to post some pictures of them with photos
