We got to the convention Center a little late and we headed to the Dealer's room and the Artist's Alley to check out what was available.
Then I went to go see The Girl Who Leapt Through Time. This was shown in what used to be the 35 mm room. I had seen 5 CM Per Second in this same room. The room was all set up for HD. I got in the room late and had to watch most of the film peaking around the head of the guy in front of me.
I really liked this film. I can't wait to get it on BluRay so I can see it unobstructed. Definitely see this if you get the chance. We had the Dub and I really liked the Dub. The voices were perfect for the characters. It had the feel of a Ghibli film more than a Shinkai film, in my opinion. I thought it was excellent. a Must see film.
I saw an episode of Maria Watches Over Us ... kinda strange but I like strange things. I'll definitely check out a few more episodes.
I had a Meet Up scheduled for 6 PM, so I hung out an waited to meet a few folks who joined my Meet Up.
We went to "Old Fart's Anime Appreciation Panel" .. which was amazing. They pretty much just went around the room and people talked about the anime they watched as a kid. One of the panelists knew everything ... he is one of my new heros It was fun to remember all the things I watched as a kid that I had forgotten about.
I stayed in the same room for Otaku Studies. This panel was presented by a Phd. who focused on Otaku in America. Some very interesting insights into what makes an Otaku an Otaku in the USA. There was an Otaku expert from Japan in the room as well and it was cool to see them go back and forth. I got some good questions out of this panel for the forums in the future
We ended up the night at the Game Show ... a Jeopardy style game with Con Goers. Lots of funny questions. Nice way to end the day. Went home and watched Elfin Lied until 3 am

I was moving a little slow this morning
I went to a State of the Industry panel ... that unfortunately only had folks from Funimation. They talked a little about their own titles and basically said that the anime industry is not dead ... it will survive ... but please help it along by buying what you can, if you can.
I hit the Dealer's Room and got some stuff ....
I made it back for the Closing Ceremonies ... where they announced the winners of the various contests (Cosplay, AMV, etc.).
I think I might take a crack at putting together an AMV ... that looks like fun.
Anyway .. if you have a chance to go to a Con, check it out. Be active ... it's fun
here are my final pics ...
FLCL ...
Nodame Cantabile ...

Wow, sure looks like you had fun! Thanks a bunch for posting pictures, that t-shirt looks awesome!
Just how crowded was that place? Usually the creators of some anime are bound to be surrounded by people, so I'm curious as to how you were even able to hear what they said.... _________________ Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most. |

The Baltimore Convention center is pretty big. The total number of attendees was a little under 20,000 people. There are about 30 rooms of all shapes and sizes and they spread things out pretty well. All the rooms had their own audio visual equipment. This year the concerts and the masquerade were held in the city arena ... which seats about 15K people.
I never really felt like there were too many people in one room or in one area.
