During the course of the event, there will be several contests:

1. Best Film Short: Submit an original short film or video that is inspired by Mr. Shinkai's works (for example, live action movie, animation). NOTE: Due to lack of hosting space, please upload to YouTube or an equivalent and send me the link. Thanks ... Laz

2. Best Image/Art: Submit an original piece of art (drawing, picture, etc.) that is inspired by Mr. Shinkai's works.

3. Essay Contest: For those of us that aren't artistically inclined, submit an original short essay describing how Mr. Shinkai's works have impacted you or inspired you.

4. AMV: Best originally created AMV. Now ..I'm not going to search the internet to make sure that you didn't just grab one off of youtube ...so please be honest. NOTE: Due to lack of hosting space, please upload to YouTube or an equivalent and send me the link. Thanks ... Laz

5. Fan Fiction: Best original work of fan fiction inspired by Shinkai's works. NOTE: Since there were no non-English entries, there's only one prize for this contest.

We will have voting on the submissions throughout the day and the winners will be identified at the end of the event.

The 6 winers will receive a 5 CM Per Second Movie poster (Thank you ComixWave and Sunami-san!!!!!).

All Submissions must be sent in at least 24 hours (give or take) prior to the event.

I heard back from ComixWave ... they are going to send some 5CM per Second Movie Posters as prizes !!!!!!

That's totally cool. There's another surprise announcement that will probably come closer to the event.

I hope we have some contestants for the Prizes!!!!

Hi Maltos - Yes, AMVs would be considered as long as they are original works by the person submitting them.

So by 'original work' do you mean the whole thing has to be original content? Or can I use stuff from the Shinkai films and edit it together with music?

These are all good questions ... hmmm .. let me think. I may need to add a new contest for AMVs ... because I would judge a live action clip or original animation differently than an AMV. Hmmmm ....

Ok ... added a spot for AMVs ... that seems the most fair.
