The Clannad movie is good ... but sad
Definitely check out the Macross Movie (Macross:Do you remember love?) great art for an early 80s anime.
Elfin Lied ... I like the anime. The manga goes beyond the story in the anime ... if you like the anime, definitely check it out.

NHK ni Yousoku is Welcome to the NHK? I´m downloading the 24 eps...It´s going to take some time... , also Clannad
Death Note...I don't know if I'm confused with something else I've watched this a few years ago (Death Note Live Action,2006 ?), and like it but where is Anime (I can't remember, maybe I will see this again), |
Think of young innocent girls. Think of artificial mechanic bodies and guns. Now put them together and you get Gunslinger Girl. Set in Europe, this anime is not only action packed but quite emotional too as it made me somehow terribly wanting to help the girls at times due to their lack of conscience. Well, you can't really blame them when they're "brainwashed" and made to do the government's dirty work.
There is also a second season: Gunslinger Girl IL Teatrino.
Chobits is definitely a must-see. I love it! Can't say any more haha.
Yes, NHK ni Yousoku is "Welcome to the NHK". It's a very interesting psychological anime with a strong "slice of life" sense in it. Another recommendation to all.
As for Death Note, the anime is one of the best "thrillers" I've ever seen. The movies aren't bad but they're nothing compared to the anime. |

I remember you talking about Gunslinger Girl, Junpei and I had been watching it. It's very cool ...I remember watching one episode and it was set in Florence and I was in the same location and thought .."Hey that's Florence ... I've been there!" ha ha
If you like Death Note then definitely check out Code Geass ... same twists and turns like Death Note.

Yeah, they're pretty good, well I think they are good. Some of them aren't all that popular because of how old they are. Galaxy Express 999 (the movie and its sequel Adieu GE999) are old, 1979 and 1981 respectively. I love them, GE999 the movie is what nabbed me into the anime world when I was a kid. Appleseed is relatively recent just like Petite Cossette. Jin-Roh is a little older, than Appleseed and Petite Cossette. New Dominion Tank Police was made in the mid 90s.
Urusei Yatsura is a great comedy series made in the early 80s. Movie 2, Beautiful Dreamer, was made in 1984 and dubbed in 1996. I watched it when it was dubbed when I was little. For the longest time it plagued me, I remembered the whole movie except for the title. It wasn't until several years ago that I had remembered the anime series and its respective movies.
Gunsmith Cats is a favorite of mine, it's a three episode OVA. They did a great job in research.
Barefoot Gen is a great movie, I like it more than the sequel movie. It's a ficitonalized story of Keiji Nakazawa's own experience during the Hiroshima bombing. He did write up a comic before Barefoot Gen called, Ore wa Mita (I Saw It) which portrayed his own experiences during the bombing.
There were plenty of other movies and short OVAs that continued to pop in my mind after that post. Got me to thinking on a list of anime series that I liked too. |

New- Ponyo...I saw with my son, he like the movie very much, it's one more Myazaki movie, almost childish but good, at least better than the last one's (for me of course)...very concerned with the problems of the environment (as usual)...somehow make me remind Tonari no Totoro (1988)...21 years ago...
