Bought a new digital camera today and so far it's pretty neat. Mind you, this is the first and only camera I have. I just hope it won't be as bad as the reviews I've been seeing otherwise I've chugged down $190.00 for a bad product.

The model is KODAK EasyShare C813.

The first picture taken. (I wasn't sure what to shoot so I looked up Smile)

Since people are posting threads on photography, I think I'll use this one for my pictures from now on.[/url]

I have the C913. It's really a handy little thing. Go for it, Junpei! Smile

Thank you all. However, I still have quite a way to go before I learn how to shoot better pictures with various techniques. If anyone would be generous enough to lend me a few tips, I'll gladly accept it. Smile

Well, if the user guide for the C813 is anything like the one for the C913, it's no help at all. I'd try experimenting with the different settings to learn what they do. As for techniques, I'll leave that to the other experts on here. If I've ever gotten a good picture, it was usually a lucky shot.

You got it right - the guide's entirely no help at all. Thanks for the advice, I'll see what I can do with the different settings. And did I mention this camera has a major flaw? It eats batteries like candy! Now isn't that great?

Speaking of useless manual, I have no idea how to, if there is a setting at all, change the shutter speed. Anyone know?

As for the power problem, trying going to "Menu" then "Setup Menu" and set "LCD Brightness" to "Power Save." That might help some. Also under 'Setup Menu" is the "Auto Power Off" setting, although if you set it too low, it'd be a pain having to keep turning the camera back on. Mine is set to 3 minutes.

I don't see anything for shutter speed, but after reading the second link from Isua, I'd suggest trying the ISO setting in the Menu and see if that does what you want.
