Looks like Teamspeak updated the client and server; I haven't updated the server yet as there was no way to update the information from the old database to the new (understandable, as Teamspeak 3 is still in the Beta stage). If you update for now, when you log in, you will get a popup that the server is old and some features may be missing. When GSD2010 gets close, I'll definitely update the server to the latest version then. I may or may not do some updates in the meantime, depending on what updates Teamspeak does.

Oh, and the Teamspeak->Shoutcast bridge is down until I can get back home.

Gleo added the Minicaster Flash shoutcast player below the chat. I've also gotten home and re-attached the Teamspeak -> Shoutcast bridge and the Minicaster player seem to play just fine on both my Linux laptop and my Windows 7 desktop (both tested in Firefox).

Though if nobody's talking on Teamspeak, you won't be hearing much.

Huh, didn't notice that Mumble (An open-source voice-chat system like Ventrilo or Teamspeak) had Windows and Mac OS X clients now. Last time I checked, they only had Linux clients, so it looks like the project is growing quite nicely. I'll stick with Teamspeak 3 for this year (unless there's a major issue comes up), but that will have to be something to evaluate for next year.

The biggest reason? Licensing. Though the current 32-client limit of an unregistered Teamspeak 3 should be sufficient, they may decide to lower that for the full release or at any point. GSD may also be so popular that the 32 person limit may actually be hit (which, given the shoutcast stream, shouldn't be an issue unless there are that many that wish to speak...). A more minor reason is that the current Teamspeak 3 linux client seems to have a memory leak or runaway process somewhere on certain Linux installations (like, erm... mine, though it doesn't really manifest for hours and a restart of the client clears it out); they are working on fixing it though.

In other discussions, does anybody want to plan a date and time to get on Teamspeak and chat away? I won't be able to do anything this Sunday due to convention meetings, but I'm free most evenings and weekends otherwise.

Just so there's something more interesting than line-noise on the shoutcast station, I decided to just play Module file music (Mostly songs I've collected from 1997 to around 2003) mainly due to that most of these are Creative Commons or similar copyleft licensed songs.

Who knows, I might decide to put up the Module music I made (mainly in 1994-1996 when I was in High School, but I did at least one finished song in 2002) in my more delirious states... Wink

I seem to be talking to myself alot here...

Anyways, I've upgraded the Teamspeak server to the latest beta. Feel free to upgrade your clients. I'll probably do a final upgrade on the day before GSD.

We definitely need to schedule a time when we're all on here Smile Every time I check it, its static cuz I'm the only one here. How about the weekend before the event we get together to do some pre planning and tire kicking.

Found this in the FAQ for Teamspeak 3:

Quote:
How can I link to my TeamSpeak 3 server on my webpage?
Complete format:
ts3server://ts3.hoster.com?port=9...;token=TokenKey&addbookmark=1

Parameters are optional. In most cases, specifiying the host and port should be sufficient. Nicknames usually should not be specified, leave this to be configured by the users in the client. So a common URL would look like this: ts3server://ts3.hoster.com?port=9987

Or simplified if only the port is given: ts3server://ts3.hoster.com:9987

Or even shorted, using default port 9987: ts3server://ts3.hoster.com
Example for a complete HTML link:

Click to connect to my server

looks like the link for my server would be:
ts3server://rakushun.nickistre.net?port=9987

Didn't work for me in Linux, but that's cause the "ts3server" protocol isn't assigned to the Teamspeak 3 client on my system. Let's see if that works in the other O.S. (Mac OS X and Windows).

I had tried that out on my computer, but it kept saying that "ts3server" could not be associated with any program. I don't know if that's a problem with the browser or what. I'll try putting it on the forum page and see what happens.

EDIT: This is the alert message I get: "Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (ts3server) isn't associated with any program."

Ah, I get the same. That's a pity. I'm guessing they're assuming the installation process will assign the Teamspeak 3 client to the ts3server protocol; I guess that won't work on Linux and Mac OS X. I'll try to remember to test on my Windows 7 system at home. Might still be useful if it works there.

Just tested, it does work in Windows using Firefox. It pops up a window asking to choose an app to open the link with, but it only has the Teamspeak 3 client to choose.
