Yeah, it seems to be headed toward a wrap-up. Seems to be regaining a focus and tying up loose ends. It has a feel like a story out of the World War I era.

"I thought it was getting cold." How many times have we heard that line in anime, when it starts to snow. Rolling Eyes

Well, we did hear that from Okabe in The Place Promised in Our Early Days, though truthfully, I don't remember hearing that in anime all that often.  Maybe I don't watch enough "Sad Girl In Snow" anime or something?

Yeah, that one, too. Also, it was heard in Azumanga Daioh and Strawberry Marshmallow (if you've ever watched that, that is). I can't think of any others at the moment, but I always expect to hear it whenever it starts to snow in a scene. Maybe I'm imagining things. Confused

Just watched Episode 11. Things are heating up.

A Roman soldier who speaks German???

Also, some interesting religious stuff. I wonder what might have happened in the past to change the world so.

Oh, yeah, and there was some unexpected fan-service. Wink

And a cliffhanger???!!!! Shocked

Well, that ending was ... actually pretty good.  I do think the creators took on a much more epic story than they meant too; the world background, settings, myths, and the characters are just wonderful.  The attempted plot tie-in at the end, on the other hand was pretty disappointing.  Especially with the "pause combat with the power of music!" (as lovely as that rendition of Amazing Grace was...).  Still, it is perfectly in line with the themes presented in the rest of the series and the title itself ("Sound of the Sky"?).

An we finally get to see that spider tank in action!

That said, I kindof wish this series was longer to flesh out the characters and settings more.

And I still want the lovely soundtrack.  This series is Haibane Renmei lite in more than one way...

I really liked this series and I'll forgive the major jumps (not from the spider tank of course). I do think that if they had discussed the mythology a little more throughout the series then the end would have been a little easier to wrap up nicely ... it's kind of all presented at the end.

Anyway ... I really liked these characters and the epic scale of a small story of a few female soldiers was a comfortable reach.

I do wish the story had gone on longer so we could learn more about the characters ... but I'll definitely add this to one of my fav lists.

Gotta love that trumpet rendition of Amazing Grace too ... haunting.

My tweets about this show's soundtrack over the past day:
Quote:

# Ohhh... The Sora no Woto soundtrack is gorgeous! about 7 hours ago via web

# You know, the background music is probably why I was so smitten with Sora no Woto. It's so old-school and rich orchestral! about 7 hours ago via web

# That's what part of the Sora no Woto soundtrack reminds me of: George Gershwin, especially "American in Paris".     4 minutes ago   via web

Compare from the Sora no Woto soundtrack:

Thoughts?
