Alirght a few things I have been working on lately. The main one being the background for the animation I'm putting together for a friend the rest are more just for fun and practice!

When I got bored of working on the background I would take picutres of clouds then paint them haha! Very messly though ill need to work on that.

Photoshop CS2 on one of the Intel Due Core 2 at my school... I have 3 periods to work on the computers! Also have a 9x12 Intuos 3 Wacom tablet I use to paint with. Have had it for a long time but only resently have started to seriously practice with it!

Started working on this today, first I had a photograph I uploaded to photoshop. After that I began rotoscopeing some of the land with line art. Basically means I skeched the lines over top of the picuture on a different layer. After I was done that I set a warm yellow with a bit of orange as the baclground color to help me make color judgements. I wanted a warmer feeling so that is why I made the background that color.

Then I began laying out the colors with a big brush becuase I'm not worrying about the details at this point.

I would take my glasses off since I'm half blind to check the compoition. This will blur the image which helps me see if it will work witht he colors I have chossen.

I took my glasses off to have a look from a blurred view and it looked like a real photo. Nicely done. Smile

Hmmm the land scape looks odd at the mid point... It's actually rather close but it looks far away. As well the colors in the back are very off, I need to repeat those colors more in mid ground as well I need more highlights. The Mountains are the wrong color as well since the sky is blue the landscape should fade into a more blue color not purple.

There's not a close enough foreground either it looks a little to distant since I wanted to have a character in there when I'm done.
This was heavily inspired off off the scence in 5 CM where Kanae was looking out over the highlands. (I think that's what they were) Then looks up into the sky. I loved that scene so much! But I learned alot just by doing what I did yesterday!

I plan to finish this and maybe do a few more paintings heavily based off of Makoto Shinakai's backgrounds. But soon ill be doing my own thing I hope =P

A sketch of Kanea semi realitically. I didnt use any references of photographs though my friend let me stare at her to get an idea of the shadeing. Though I dindt take it to far :3

What you guys think? Does it remind you of Kanea?
