Opeth is a Swedish progressive/death metal band who had become one of the few death metal bands that I am able to get into in recent years. But putting them together, even one of their more progressive songs, with Shinkai's movies isn't something I would thought to be even possible. Yet, someone damn nearly pulled it off with this video:

Opeth's lighter stuff tends to be still pretty dark, but I find myself in love with the flow of their music. And the visuals work will with that flow, and the lyrics match brilliantly. I'm just not sure that 5/cm is "dark" enough for the song, but I'm warming to it. |

I haven't really looked at Opeth but I do like some prog/death/sludge metal. My favorites are Neurosis, Gojira, The Ocean Collective and Isis.
On a completely different tangent, this is one of my favorite videos:
múm - Green Grass of Tunnel. Beautiful animation. _________________ I have opinions, opinions on things |

I feel some of you may not be able to appreciate this song and video in the same way I do, as it is a very British thing. But the use of old cameras and the purposefully, and meticulously, aged audio makes this song and video (that was only released a matter of months ago) feel decades old. Real art.

This, however, is just inspirational. The music and video. As one comment says; "This music video reaffirms my faith in mankind." When it comes in properly, out of the intro, at 1.44, my jaw never ceases to drop _________________ "...Kanae fanboys represent!" - Zitch |

Great band, beautiful song, stunning video.
I've never heard of Bibio. I really could have sworn that was from the 70s until I looked them up and realised it's from this year.
