I kind of like the scene of her riding off in her moped. I always get the feeling saying "I know you will be just fine from now on Kanae." I didn't really notice it till I read it in the summary of the novel I gave but the reason Kanae did not confess her feelings was because of the cold look Takaki gave her when he turned around. I re watched that part and the shot of his face after he urns around looks cold. Think he says something like "what is it?"
I'm glad Takaki relises how many people he's hurt in the novel, though I wonder if he will ever find love!
Erm.. I was thinking.. and wondering.. @ epi 3.. Takaki went out with a girl.. but never produced good result.. and Takaki replied to that very coldly too.. So i guess i can assume that Takaki know that if he don't reject them now, he will regret it later or they will be hurt more later on.. (And hey, Takaki really imagined Akari out of nowhere?-.-)
I wonder, at the part when Takaki and the girl cross ways @ the railway just like when they were children, were he imagine Akari out too?-.-
Hmmm, I relized that I never really rewatch 5 Centimeters Per Second, I just occationally rewatch the montage it has good replay value He has such passion in his voice, so much sadness.

Definately. It was the one part of 5CM that really hit me right at the end.
I really wasnt expecting it, the first time around, and i doubt i'll ever get that same initial feeling that i got the first watch, again with any other film.

Hey Neko, Can you clarify the last sentence ? Are you suggesting that he imagined here there at the end ? Just curious as I think I missed your original post back in July :0

Honestly, when I first watched musical scene, I could barely see it, because my eyes had decided to cloud with tears.
And later, when I got the chance to re-watch it, I cried again, because I was paying close attention to the flashing images haunting the end of the film.
It was very moving to me --- the song fit perfectly.

Hi there Makoto fans. I'm new to Makoto and I decided to use this topic to introduce myself. 5 Centimeters Per Second, which I just finished watching not ten minutes ago, was my first but absolutely not my last Makoto film. So, since this topic is on the montage, then let me say that it was probably one of the most emotional experiences of my life. I have always had deep connections with anime which is why I one day hope to be in the field. As soon as that song started up and I could see the little hints and flashes that this story does not turn out with the happy ending I so wanted it to have I just started sobbing. I don't know about the rest of you, but I have a love/hate relationship with that feeling. I love that I watched something that so moved me, but at the same time I mean cmon it's so sad. Geez, I mean I'm still kinda teary while I'm writing this. I'm a big panzy when it comes to romances anyway, but this hit me like a truck. Makoto has rocketed himself to the top of my favorite director list.

Absolutely, this kind of feeling is what inspires me to keep writing. I've always been a sap when it comes to "chick flicks" I don't know I just like em lol, but there has always just been something more to anime for me. I don't know why but my whole life the shows, or movies, or whatever that have been able to really make me cry and think have always been anime related.
