I've watched this a few times and each time I'm able to pick out more and more little glimpses into the time that passes in Takaki's life.
I especially like the scene where he (and it looks like Kanae) are walking past a mail box and he kind of looks at it and drops a little bit and keeps walking. It's almost as if the mailbox is an unhappy reminder to him that Akari is out there somewhere waiting for a letter .. or maybe that he is waiting for one or himself.
Anyway ... did anyone pick up any other tid bits from that montage?
Exactly like me, I've watched this ending quite a few times and I pick up something I have missed and realise how every single part is important.
Yes, I've noticed that mailbox bit when Takaki was walking with what looks like Kanae. If you didn't already notice, Akari walked by too with this other person. I think he is the boy she meets in her middle school who later might be the one she marries.
my favorite "tid bit" is when it shows Kanae watching a plane departing an airport. don't know why but it seems very sad to me that she will most likely never see him again.
That montage has some of the best animation in the movie but it goes by so fast that you don't get to see it well.
I just watched the third part again. All the scenes go by really fast with the song so I had to pause at all the exact time. And oh my... my eyes were swarming with tears.
I've already seen this specific part but I paused it for exact detail, when Kanae watches the plane fly away, I just suddenly got a tingling feeling and my heart hurt really much. The look on her face was unbearable to me.
If you look closely, she has some tears in her eyes too. Agghhh... the feeling that knowing she will never see Takaki again is just solid sadness. I'm going to have nightmares again tonight. I love Kanae so much! And I feel bad for Mizuno too, who loves Takaki but not receiving it in return. >_<
P.S. Oh and another something I've picked out. When Takaki goes into the AM/PM store, "One more time, One more chance" is heard playing.
that was the point, the music in the store causes a more fluid move to the montage. other wise you would think"why did the movie just turn into a music video?" great song that.
HA HA ... sorry, I was out of town for the weekend I check the board and respond when I get home from work so you usually won't see posts from me until later US time.
