Hi,
as I said in my presentation post, I am from Italy and I would really like to buy the DVD of this masterpiece. I was looking for it on the web, but it looks like there's no distribution for this work in my country at the moment.
I'm very disappointed
How can I do to have the DVD of this movie? Is there at least an English version (or with english subs) that I can buy out there and that I can watch with my DVD player (I'm thinking about the regional limitation)? |

Hey Gian,
Right now, 5cm is only available in English, Japanese, Russian and Chinese (according to Anime News Network). The English version has English subtitles. It's a Region 1 DVD. I checked and Italy uses Region 2 DVDs.
Now, I believe the Blu-Ray DVD is region free, meaning that it can be played on any Blu-Ray DVD player. (Someone correct me on this.) That may be your best way of owning and watching a copy. Hope that helped. |

Thanks again gleowine. I think that even if I pray on my knees mr Shinkai-san I won't get a copy of 5cm that works in Italy.
The only solution for me is to check if a pc dvd reader can read region 1 dvd and then buy the English one or check if Blu-Ray has regional limitation as you suggested! |

I think BluRay has regions as well ... I know the US is the same region as Japan so I got the BluRay from Amazon.jp.
Hmmmm ... I'll have to check into this further.

Only bad news!
OK, if this is the situation, the only solution is to buy a DVD, rip it and make it region free. Only in this way I can watch his works in a DVD quality here in Italy.
So sad!
