Just reposting this info here so it'll be easier for people to find:
K, have an 8-slot Ventrilo server available at the following settings:
Hostname: rakushun.nickistre.net
Port Number: 3784
I have no passwords set for normal users as of now. Also, I have to kick off the server manually if the server had to be restarted, so it might be down once in a while if I forget to start it. Otherwise, it should be up and available for use if you wish.
Let's plan on getting some kind of regular meeting going next, I guess.

Hey Zitch, Gleo and I were on this afternoon and we were getting the same message about out clients only being able to interact with Speex codec and the server being GSM 6.0. We could log in and Chat but no audio was going on.

I was reading the Ventrilo FAQ's, and it said the default setting for a server is GSM 6.10. The client program is automatically set to this at login, but when I try to test the mic, it says that I need to set it to None or Speex. I'm not sure if this is a problem with the client or with the Mac OS. Any ideas? _________________

Just got back from Baton Rouge. Strange, I guess you both are on Mac clients? I guess the GSM codec isn't included with the Mac client or O.S. I'll change the vent server to use Speex instead. I was hitting a similar issue when running the Windows Vent Client on my Linux system through Wine, but I had figured that the Macs would work fine since they are officially supported.
Ok, it is now using the Speex codec, 32 KHz, 16 bit, 5 Quality. |

Cool. Yeah I updated the latest version and the Mac client still only uses Speex.
Thanks Zitch!

Just talked with Gleowine on the vent server, and it looks like the Speex codec will let Mac (and Linux) clients connect and chat.
