Hey Folks,
I've done a sampling of some of the new series, especially since some of my favorites came to an end recently.
Here are some of the shows I've checked out ... let me know if you have any recommendations as well.
1. Valkyria Chronicles - I played the PS3 game and loved it. The first episode follows along with the story line from the game so I've got high hopes for this one.
2. Full Metal Alchemist - This is more of a retelling of the story rather than an additional series or a new story line from the previous series. Looks pretty good.
3. Eden of the East - Wow ... not sure how to describe this one other than strange. The first episode contained lots of trouser dropping ... not sure where the story line is going but I'm hooked so far.
4. Shangri-La - Post global warming earth where countries pay a tax for emitting carbons. A young girl who is fated to take over the anti-government organization. Interesting plot so far ... we'll see where this one goes.
5. Shin Mazinger - Non stop action. I've only seen one episode of this and it was start to finish action. Not sure if there's a plot in there somewhere, but it looked pretty good so far.
6. Basquash - So there are these giant mecha that are used to play basketball ... sounds kinda dumb, but the first episode was entertaining so I'm willing to give it more time to grow on me.
Others I've checked out ... K-on, Saki .... Any recommendations ?

I've grabbed a few various episodes which look interesting, though i'm yet to watch them.
K-ON! - Although it looks like a standard moe-fest, the band aspect looks very interesting.
Fullmetal Alchemist - Loved the first series, how could I not follow this?
Eden of the East - From various glowing reviews I've grabbed this. Looks very intriguing!
DragonBall Kai - I wanted a chance to relive my younger childhood days again _________________ "...Kanae fanboys represent!" - Zitch |

|
|
Spring 2009:
1. Valkyria Chronicles - Still watching this and still like it. I wasn't all that pleased in the differences between the anime and the game (Faldio's liking Alicia) but it is doing justice to the story in general.
2. Full Metal Alchemist - I watch this more when I have some time ...I'm a few episodes behind. I like the retelling, but I've seen it before so ...
3. Eden of the East - Liked it. Thought the last episode was a little weak. Hoping that the movie does justice to the end of the story.
4. Shangri-La - Like it and am still watching. Not quite sure where it is going but the action is good and the characters are interesting and have developed.
5. Shin Mazinger - I'm pretty far behind on this. I just couldn't get into it. It didn't hook me.
6. Basquash - Dropped this like a rock.
7. K-On - I gave into my "it's too moe" attitude and I loved it. Interesting story, not just a fan service anime. Good stuff.
8. 07 Ghost - I picked this up due to someone mentioning it in the forums. It's ok ... way too many "guys hugging" scenes ha ha ... I'll keep watching
9 Asura Crying - I was surprised by how much I liked this anime. Second set of episodes is scheduled for the Fall ... definitely a watch.
10. Haruhi - 2nd Season - The eternal eight ... has finally ended Only haruhi could produce 8 or so episodes of the same thing and get me to come back to watch it
11. Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 - The girl in this is annoying as hell. I guess shes like all kids who don't want to be treated like a kid. Interesting story and I have to admit I watched the first 4 episodes one after the other due to the story. Definitely check it out.
Summer 2009 Anime:
Below list thanks to http://chartfag.wordpress.com/ for the link ...
Asura Crying 2 and InuYasha: The Final Act are on the list of things to watch. I saw White Album so I'll watch White Album 2 as well.
I'll take a flyer on Kimi no Todoke, Sasemeki Koto and Nyan Koi!
Are you looking forward to anything special? Any thoughts on the Spring or Summer animes?

| Wow, so many titles I've never heard of before. Makes me sort of want to get back into anime - I stopped watching anything after Clannad After Story. Was too damn depressing. But it still was the best anime I've seen though. |

Thanks for the post, Laz. The only title I recognize is Kobato, but only because Newtype USA (when it was being published) ran excerpts from the manga.
I've heard a lot of praise for Eden of the East, though honestly I have no idea what it's about. I may check into that one.
I saw the first episode of Kannagi: Crazy Shrine Maidens. It was cute and pretty, but that's about it.
Heard a lot about K-On, though I've only seen the opening. May check it out, too.
There are still several older anime that I want to watch, so the newer ones may get shoved to the back of the list. _________________

I actually watched the whole K-ON! series last week. It's a very addictive show and it was a lovely watch when i've been without anime for quite a while! _________________ "...Kanae fanboys represent!" - Zitch |

I know, I'm behind on my new anime viewing.
I'm watching Asura Cryin' 1 (haven't got to 2 yet), and Saki.
I have to say that I like Saki better than Asura. I've never been much for mecha anime. As for Saki, I don't think you need to know mahjong to enjoy this one; it's just fun following the characters as they develop, as well as the excitement of the tournament action. The wide range of eccentric characters keeps it interesting, as well. _________________
