That was so great! Not only the experiences you had but also the narrative! I jut couldnt stop reading! And I also wish you had stayed for the drinks, so much more to tell would've derived from that!

I so envy you Laz! To be able to meet Shinkai... Oh my god, that would be like a dream!! (I know I sound like a 14 year old girl right now, when in fact I'm a 23 year old guy, but I dont give a damn XD)

I would so love for the same thing to happen to me.... Even though I am in Tokyo right now, I doubt I would be able to meet Shinkai.... sigh

Anyway, its really great that at least you go to meet him and you could tell us about him. Of course, after his next movie comes out you are going to have to fully disclose every single detail you cant right now!  Very Happy  Wink

Do you live in Tokyo or are you just visiting?

I'm sure you could probably find that whole crew of folks out drinking on Friday nights somewhere in the area of where they work. They seem to live and work in the same area.

Yeah, I'm living here for 6 months (five left), though I do want to extend my stay, but thats a different talk.

By the way, if anyone comes over, tell me so we can get together!

Anyway, where do they work? I might just try my luck XD

Lucky lucky lucky.

I really liked Tokyo and wish I had more time to explore there.

Hey guys, it's been a while. Decided to pop back in here and see what other peeps are up to recently.

I'll be going to Japan in mid-December. (At long last! Very Happy) The original plan was to visit Osaka, Kyoto, Nagoya then up north for a bit of skiing and bunking down in Tokyo for the remainder of the trip before flying back home. But due to a change in my work schedule I will only be staying one week in Tokyo instead.

I would appreciate suggestions on some places to visit while there. We'll be covering the mainstream places like Akihabara and Tsukiji fish market of course but I'd love to hear from you guys.

EDIT/ 21 Dec, 2012

Well, just came back 2 days ago and had a blast. We did quite a fair bit of walking and wandering the streets. Not a single day went by without my legs hurting by the end of the day.

Places we covered: Yoyogi Park, Meiji Jingu, Harajuku, Shinjuku, Akihabara, Shibuya, Imperial Palace, Tokyo Tower, Ueno Park, Tokyo government building, Tokyo Dome City, Odaiba island (Big-O, Toyota Motor Show, Gundam statue, Entertainment Center, Statue of Liberty) and of course Ikebukuro where we stayed.
There were a few other things I wanted to do such as the Skytree and Ghibli museum but missed out on.
